AtlAS November Plenary Meeting

AtlAS will address recent developments in international commercial arbitration in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in a hybrid session on November 11th  at 11:00 am ET. Our speakers will be Dr. Yu Jianlong, Secretary General of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT),and Cao Lijun, Partner Beijing Office, Zhong Lun Law Firm. Registration is free. Registrants can attend in person at the law offices of Arnall Golden Gregory LLP or via Zoom. 

Our speakers have recently co-authored and published a book, A Guide to the CIETAC Arbitration Rules and Practice through the Oxford University Press.

Dr. Yu Jianlong is the Secretary General of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). He is also Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) and the International Chamber of Commerce-China (ICC China). Dr. Yu concurrently serves as Vice Chairman of the ICC World Chambers Federation (ICC WCF). He is also a member of the Governing Board of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA). Dr. Yu served as Secretary General of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) 2006 to 2016 and as Vice Chairman of the China Maritime Arbitration Commission and CIETAC from 2006 to 2021. 

Cao Lijun is currently a co-head of Zhong Lun’s Dispute Resolution Department, which he joined after working with CIETAC. Lijun is licensed to practice law in China and the State of New York. Since 2014, Chambers has continuously ranked Lijun as a “Band 1” international arbitration lawyer.

They will discuss the latest developments in international commercial arbitration in China, including but not limited to government and court support for arbitration and the opening of the market. They will also discuss proposed amendments to the PRC Arbitration Law, which will feature several major changes.
