AtlAS November Plenary Meeting

Join us on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 12:00 noon – 1:30 PM EST for AtlAS’ November Plenary Meeting.

The Carter Center will host the meeting at 453 John Lewis Freedom Parkway NE, Atlanta, GA 30307. Participants will enter the facility at the Executive Offices Entrance of the Carter Center, and will be directed to the Zaban Room from that entrance.

As with all of AtlAS’ Plenary Meetings, there will be an option for remote virtual attendance by Zoom.

The meeting will start with a presentation to be followed by a multidisciplinary panel session on “Peace Keeping and Conflict Resolution”.

Paul Root Wolpe’s presentation will introduce into the topic: While Europe is renowned for cities that are centers of conflict resolution and peacebuilding – Geneva, Zurich, Oslo, Helsinki, and The Hague for example – no city in the US has branded itself in such a way. Paul Root Wolpe, former Director of Emory University’s Center for Ethics, has been asked to build a center he calls the Center for Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation (PACT). In this session, Dr. Wolpe will explain what he has learned from exploring centers of conflict resolution globally, and how he plans to design a center in Atlanta which will bring together Atlanta’s iconic institutions such as the Carter Center and the King Center to rebrand Atlanta as America’s center for conflict resolution and peace.
